Bookshare: ebooks for people with print disabilities.

Bookshare is the world's largest online library of accessible ebooks for people with print disabilities, including the blind and dyslexic. Currently, the Bookshare collection contains close to 350,000 text titles, which eligible users can add to their personal libraries and read online.Titles can also be downloaded and read either on a computer, a smartphone or tablet, or a commercially-available DAISY reader, including the Victor Reader Streamfrom HumanWare, and the Book Port DTfrom the American Printing House for the Blind.

Students of all ages are eligible for a free Bookshare membership. K–12 students can also download many of their textbooks free of charge . Android users can use the Go Read app to search the Bookshare library, and download and read books on their mobile device.

The Gentleman's Magazine - First General Interest Magazine in the World

The Gentleman's Magazine  is considered as the first general interest magazine in the world. It was first published in 1731 in London under the editorship of Edward Cave under the pen name Sylvanus Urban. It was the first publication which use the term Magazine with its name. The term  originated from the Arabic term 'makazin' or the French term 'magazine' both means storehouse. 

The original complete title of the magazine was The Gentleman's Magazine: or, Trader's monthly intelligencer. The aim of it was to create a monthly digest of news and commentary on all topic the educated public might be interested in. It contain articles on education, literature, language, administration, arts, science and so on. It carried original content from a stable of regular contributors, as well as extensive quotations and extracts from other periodicals, books and even from pamphlets. Samuel Johnson joined with The Gentleman's Magazine as first regular employment as a writer in 1738. Since then it started to publish parliament reporting.

A skilled businessman, Edward Cave developed an extensive distribution system for The Gentleman's Magazine. It was read throughout the English-speaking world and continued to flourish through the eighteenth century and much of the nineteenth  century under a series of different editors and publishers. It went into decline towards the end of the nineteenth  century and finally ceased general publication in September 1907. However, issues consisting of four pages each were printed in very small editions between late 1907 and 1922 in order to keep the title formally "in print".

CCF Transactions on High Performance Computing (CCF THPC) is dedicated to publishing rigorously peer-reviewed, high-quality articles covering all aspects of supercomputing and high performance computing (HPC). Bringing together insights on, innovations in and implementations of HPC, the journal serves as an academic publication and communication platform and welcomes contributions from researchers, professionals, and industrial practitioners. The journal publishes original research and review articles on all aspects of high performance computing from design, service, and theory, to its practical use and applications. In addition, it addresses interdisciplinary topics like operating systems, networking and software engineering.

This journal is published on behalf of the China Computer Federation (CCF) and is supported by the CCF technical committee on High Performance Computing, and CCF technical committee on Computer Architectures and Information Storage Technology.

Specific topics of interest include four major research tracks: 1) Architectures on HPC; 2) Supercomputing systems; 3) Storage; and 4) Applications of HPC.

INIS - International Nuclear Information System

 

The International Nuclear Information System (INIS) hosts one of the world's largest collections of published information on the peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology. INIS is based in Vienna, Austria and has been operating since 1970. INIS is operated by the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) in collaboration with 127 Member States and 24 co-operating international organizations. All the content it holds is currently available free to all .

The INIS Repository contains bibliographic references and full-text documents of conventional and non-conventional literature, including scientific and technical reports, conference proceedings, patents and theses.

It covers all areas of IAEA’s activities, including nuclear engineering and technology, nuclear safety and radiation protection, safeguards and non-proliferation, applications of nuclear and isotope techniques, nuclear and high energy physics, nuclear and radiation chemistry, nuclear applications in life sciences, legal aspects, and environmental and economic aspects of nuclear and non-nuclear energy sources.

INIS maintains a multilingual thesaurus in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Russian and Spanish, providing translations of thousands of technical terms that help with navigating and searching the collection.

INIS was established in 1970 in line with the IAEA's mandate "to foster the exchange of scientific and technical information on peaceful uses of atomic energy". It is operated by the IAEA in collaboration with over 150 Member States and international organizations.

INIS assists its Member States in building their nuclear information capacities through its eLearning courses and training events. INIS training seminars are generally held every other year in Vienna, covering all aspects of INIS operations, including selection criteria, abstracting, descriptive cataloguing, indexing, retrieval, marketing and promotion. The courses provide comprehensive instructions about input preparation and use of the INIS repository.

Through the IAEA’s Technical Cooperation Programme, INIS helps countries build and expand their nuclear information capacities, such as providing technical assistance in organizing their institutional digital repositories.

'Grammarly' - Plagiarism checking software

Grammarly is an online grammar checking, spell checking, and plagiarism detection tool developed by Grammarly, Inc. San Francisco, California, in 2009. It was developed by Alex Shevchenko and Max Lytvyn. It is available via a browser extension for Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge. Grammarly is available as an app for both iOS and Android. Sahapedia : An open online encyclopedic resource

Sahapedia is an open online multimedia encyclopedic resource on the Indian culture, arts and history. It is based on New Delhi and registered in 2011 as a not-for-profit organisation under the societies Act of 1860. The portal provides articles , books , videos , interviews and having an image database. It  is available in Bengali , Chattisgarhi , English , Hindi , Malayalam , Marati , Tamil , and Urdu. Users can explore historic sites and natural spaces through virtual walks, timelines and interactive maps. Sahapedia is both a resource and a platform in that registered users may log into a personal work space from where they can submit material for curation and form communities of interest. It is also an online archive that hosts a library, cultural events calendar and news.
